THE SUNDAY SHIFT: Reclaim your freedom

February 16, 2025

Hi Reader,

Welcome to The Sunday Shift!

You wake up. Get through the day. Answer the emails. Sit in another meeting. Meet the deadline. Pay the bills. Crash. Repeat.

You’re doing everything right—the responsible thing, the smart thing. But somehow, it still feels like you’re missing something.

That tension in your shoulders? The tightness in your chest? That voice in the back of your mind whispering, Is this really it?

We’ve been sold a script: Work hard, play by the rules, trade your energy for a paycheck, and maybe—someday—you’ll get to enjoy life. We’ve been convinced that security means sacrificing freedom. That making money means giving up joy. That success has to come with stress.

Let’s rewrite that.

Freedom is about choice.

The choice to wake up and decide how your day unfolds. To create wealth your way—not just to survive, but to thrive. To take the trip, fund the dream, give generously, and live fully.

And here’s the part they don’t tell you: You don’t need permission.

What you do need is to start leading yourself.

So this week’s shift?

⚡️ 1 Habit

Flip the script.

Before you say yes to something—an opportunity, an expectation, a task—pause and ask: Am I choosing this, or was it chosen for me? That one habit shifts your energy from passive worker to active leader. From obligation to ownership. And it changes everything.

Why it works: There’s power in realizing how much of your life is negotiable, and moving from “have to” to “want to.”

📖 1 Story

The moment it clicked.

I know someone who did everything right. Great job, great salary, great reputation. But every Sunday (every day, really), dread would settle in. They felt stuck in a high-status, high-paying job that drained them. They’d bought into the idea that this was just how life worked.

Until one day, instead of asking What if I walked away?, they got curious:

What if I built something that worked for me?

That question cracked something open. For the first time, they weren’t just thinking about leaving—they were thinking about creating.

Within a year, they built a new life—one where work fit into their life, not the other way around. A life where they called the shots, did meaningful work, and proved that success doesn’t have to come at the cost of freedom.

🎯 1 Focus

Own the wealth mindset.

This week, shift your thinking from “How do I make enough to get by?” to “How do I build enough to live fully?" There’s no glory in struggle.

You are allowed to thrive.
You are allowed to build wealth.
You are allowed to design a life that puts you first.

Strain, stress, and seriousness won’t set you free. Playing by the old rules won’t set you free.

But stepping up as your own leader and challenging your own beliefs? That’s where it all changes.

So tell mewhat’s one choice you’re making this week to lead your life, not just survive it? Hit reply and let me know.

See you next Sunday.

THE SUNDAY SHIFT: #030 - Why do we focus on what's wrong?

Hi Reader, Welcome to The Sunday Shift! You are not your shortcomings. So why do we spend so much energy focusing on them? I sent a beta version of my new 12 Principles of Self-Leadership Assessment to about 30 people—friends, former colleagues, and new connections in my entrepreneurial world. All high-achieving, successful professionals. And then my phone starts lighting up: “This question hit me hard.” “The report looks as polished as the big names.” “Holy sh*t… I feel like a failure.” “I...

THE SUNDAY SHIFT: #029 - What does bold feel like to you?

Hi Reader, Welcome to The Sunday Shift! I’m writing this from a small, bustling café in Watch Hill, glass of chilled white wine in hand, my husband across from me, and the (adult) kids wandering the shops. We’re on vacation, and yet my mind can’t help but come back to something I’ve been building. “I’m building The Bold Revolution,” I say out loud. He listens, then gently reminds me how hard building a business is. He doesn’t say this in a discouraging way; it’s in a way that says I see the...

THE SUNDAY SHIFT: #028 - Are you holding someone back?

Hi Reader, Welcome to The Sunday Shift! It’s Monday evening and I’m reading an article on breakthroughs. One woman shared a story about her judgment toward her friend group. An elite, extreme group of runners who train and compete at levels she couldn’t imagine. Her thought? “Why spend so much time pushing yourself that far? Take a break. Have fun. Add some joy.” Then she had a breakthrough. She realized her judgment wasn’t about them at all. It wasn’t because they didn’t hang out with her or...
