THE SUNDAY SHIFT: Are you choosing by default or design?

Every day, you make thousands of choices. Most are small—what to eat, when to check your phone, whether to hit snooze. But some? Some choices change everything. Because every choice is a vote for the person you’re becoming. · The job you took (or didn’t).· The boundary you set (or didn’t).· The risk you embraced (or avoided). The life you’re living right now? It’s built on past choices. And the future version of you? That depends on the choices you make today. So the question isn’t “What do I want?” The question to ask yourself is:“Am I choosing in alignment with the life I want to create?”

Hi Reader,

Welcome to The Sunday Shift!

Every day, you make thousands of choices. Most are small—what to eat, when to check your phone, whether to hit snooze. But some? Some choices change everything.

Because every choice is a vote for the person you’re becoming.

  • The job you took (or didn’t).
  • The boundary you set (or didn’t).
  • The risk you embraced (or avoided).

The life you’re living right now? It’s built on past choices. And the future version of you? That depends on the choices you make today.

So the question isn’t “What do I want?” The question to ask yourself is:

“Am I choosing in alignment with the life I want to create?”

⚡️ 1 Habit

Make micro-choices that matter.

Instead of feeling overwhelmed by big decisions, focus on the small choices that add up.

This week, before you say yes to anything, ask:

  • Does this move me closer to my vision?
  • Am I choosing this from confidence or from fear?
  • What am I saying no to by saying yes?

Why it works: The little choices shape the big ones. Choose with intention.

📖 1 Story

The “yes” that changed everything.

Years ago, I had a choice to make. I felt pulled toward writing, coaching, and creating something of my own. But I was comfortable. Safe.

I started a blog called Wicked Cool Women. The blog started to get some traction without even promoting it. People from all over the world started to connect with me. It freaked me out. After six months, I shut it down.

Then one day, I realized staying the same was also a choice.

So I chose differently. I chose to write. I chose to lead myself first. I chose to step into the unknown.

And that one decision? It changed everything.

The thing about choice is not knowing exactly where the road leads. It’s scary and exciting. And, it’s about deciding—making the choice—to move forward.

🎯 1 Focus

Own your choices this week.

This week, be intentional about what you’re choosing:

  • What’s one choice I’ve been avoiding?
  • Where am I choosing by default instead of by design?
  • What’s one small decision I can make today that aligns with my future self?

Every choice is a chance to realign. What will you choose today? Hit reply and let me know. I’d love to hear (and I promise, I’m listening).

See you next Sunday.

THE SUNDAY SHIFT: #030 - Why do we focus on what's wrong?

Hi Reader, Welcome to The Sunday Shift! You are not your shortcomings. So why do we spend so much energy focusing on them? I sent a beta version of my new 12 Principles of Self-Leadership Assessment to about 30 people—friends, former colleagues, and new connections in my entrepreneurial world. All high-achieving, successful professionals. And then my phone starts lighting up: “This question hit me hard.” “The report looks as polished as the big names.” “Holy sh*t… I feel like a failure.” “I...

THE SUNDAY SHIFT: #029 - What does bold feel like to you?

Hi Reader, Welcome to The Sunday Shift! I’m writing this from a small, bustling café in Watch Hill, glass of chilled white wine in hand, my husband across from me, and the (adult) kids wandering the shops. We’re on vacation, and yet my mind can’t help but come back to something I’ve been building. “I’m building The Bold Revolution,” I say out loud. He listens, then gently reminds me how hard building a business is. He doesn’t say this in a discouraging way; it’s in a way that says I see the...

THE SUNDAY SHIFT: #028 - Are you holding someone back?

Hi Reader, Welcome to The Sunday Shift! It’s Monday evening and I’m reading an article on breakthroughs. One woman shared a story about her judgment toward her friend group. An elite, extreme group of runners who train and compete at levels she couldn’t imagine. Her thought? “Why spend so much time pushing yourself that far? Take a break. Have fun. Add some joy.” Then she had a breakthrough. She realized her judgment wasn’t about them at all. It wasn’t because they didn’t hang out with her or...
