THE SUNDAY SHIFT: What if you already have the answer?

Hi Reader,

Welcome to The Sunday Shift!

Ever get that quiet nudge inside, the one that whispers, “Maybe it’s time for something different,” but then quickly dismiss it because staying put feels easier?

I had dinner with a friend this week who’s exactly there—successful and largely unfulfilled. (I’ve been there, too.)

She recently applied for a new job outside her company that sparked genuine excitement. She was even the frontrunner. And then... she tells me... she pulled herself out at the last minute. Why? Familiarity. Comfort. "Flexibility.” Even though she admitted she squeezes life around work and she’s not truly living it.

So, we did a quick exercise. I asked her to imagine something different. And in that moment, something shifted.

⚡️ 1 Habit

Start imagining

When you catch yourself quickly shutting down a possibility this week, pause. Just for a moment, allow yourself to imagine what could be and if it all worked out.

  • Notice how your body feels when you imagine success.
  • Ask yourself, "What's really holding me back here?"
  • Pay attention to your breath, your shoulders, your inner voice.

Why it works: You open your mind to options, to new possibilities. That’s the magic of curiosity. It gently leads you back to yourself.

📖 1 Story

She's within you

My friend was stuck in a loop of "what ifs" and "maybe somedays." Her life was comfortable, sure, but she wasn't truly happy.

At dinner, we talked about that job she'd backed away from. I gently challenged her idea of “flexibility.” Turns out, it wasn't flexibility, it was fear.

Then I asked her to imagine what she really wanted. As she described it, her shoulders softened, her breath eased. She looked right at me and said, “You’re already living this life. I couldn’t do what you’ve done. I wouldn’t know where to start.

I smiled and asked, “Who’s the most powerful leader you know?”

She paused. A looooooong pause. Then I jumped in and reminded her: “Don’t look out there. She’s within you.

The next morning, I got a message. She'd put herself back into the running for that new job. Not because it was guaranteed, but because she was finally willing to explore the possibilities.

That’s the quiet power of believing in yourself. It’s how I took my leap into solopreneurship, built (and continue building) my community, and gained clarity along the way. I didn't have every step mapped out (I still don't!), but I did know it was possible.

Sometimes, all it takes is the first leap.

🎯 1 Focus

Trust your inner leader

This week, reflect on these questions:

  • If I fully trusted myself, what’s one small leap I'd take?
  • How would I show up today if I already believed in my potential?
  • What might happen if I acted as if I was already the leader I admire most?

The leader you’re looking for isn’t out there. It's within you.

Hit reply and let me know—who's the most powerful leader you've ever met? I’d love to hear and I promise, Reader, I’m listening.

See you next Sunday.

THE SUNDAY SHIFT: #030 - Why do we focus on what's wrong?

Hi Reader, Welcome to The Sunday Shift! You are not your shortcomings. So why do we spend so much energy focusing on them? I sent a beta version of my new 12 Principles of Self-Leadership Assessment to about 30 people—friends, former colleagues, and new connections in my entrepreneurial world. All high-achieving, successful professionals. And then my phone starts lighting up: “This question hit me hard.” “The report looks as polished as the big names.” “Holy sh*t… I feel like a failure.” “I...

THE SUNDAY SHIFT: #029 - What does bold feel like to you?

Hi Reader, Welcome to The Sunday Shift! I’m writing this from a small, bustling café in Watch Hill, glass of chilled white wine in hand, my husband across from me, and the (adult) kids wandering the shops. We’re on vacation, and yet my mind can’t help but come back to something I’ve been building. “I’m building The Bold Revolution,” I say out loud. He listens, then gently reminds me how hard building a business is. He doesn’t say this in a discouraging way; it’s in a way that says I see the...

THE SUNDAY SHIFT: #028 - Are you holding someone back?

Hi Reader, Welcome to The Sunday Shift! It’s Monday evening and I’m reading an article on breakthroughs. One woman shared a story about her judgment toward her friend group. An elite, extreme group of runners who train and compete at levels she couldn’t imagine. Her thought? “Why spend so much time pushing yourself that far? Take a break. Have fun. Add some joy.” Then she had a breakthrough. She realized her judgment wasn’t about them at all. It wasn’t because they didn’t hang out with her or...
